Reports are that the Department of Economic Affairs (DEA) under the Union Ministry of Finance has reportedly reduced the loan amount to US $500 million only instead of the initial US $1 billion for the construction of the capital Amaravati.
Earlier, the DEA had given in principle approval for US $1 billion loan but subsequently realised that rules did not permit the quantum in a single tranche. Accordingly, the loan proposal was cut down by half," defend their act by the party's sources.
