‘Udta Punjab,’ the controversial film which was leaked online two days before the theatrical release has in fact passed through tough litmus tests before the Censor Board. Now that the movie has done decent business in India crossing 50 Crores mark, makers have tried their best shot by releasing the movie in Pakistant too.
According to reports from National media agencies, ‘Udta Punjab’ has hit the Pakistan screens on 24th of this month and that too with nearly 100 censor cuts. Audiences who turned out to theaters to watch the film are quite unhappy with these many cuts really dampening the overall impact.
‘Udta Punjab’ team was so disappointed with the response because audiences turn out decreased from Monday. In turn, many of the leading VCD shops in Pakistan are gaining new demand for pirated CDs of the same film. Those who came out dejected from theatres watching ‘Udta Punjab’ are watching the move second time in CDs. Foul language, swearing and derogatory words, references to Pakistan in the dialogues are been excised and awarded ‘A’ certificate by Pakistan Censor Board.
