The news has strike the market like an arrow about KCR’s total assets in visible and invisible terms accumulated to nearly Rs.6, 000+ crores. Majority of his assets are known to be in and around famous Kandla and Mumbai seaports. Although the clear figure of his total assets is still to come out but altogether a different angle of story is heard in Siddipet and surrounding areas, where KCR is the house hold name.
KCR was gifted with Shipping Ministry by Sonia Gandhi in 2004, when he was part of UPA Govt. Unfortunately during the same time, KCR’s stand for this Ministry was criticized because Telangana area doesn’t have any coastline and TRS has no chance to bring development of Telangana to fore with Shipping ministry.
It was the same time that Tamilnadu’s DMK party who was a key ally of UPA has raised the standoff because of their unhappiness towards allotment of Shipping Ministry. Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh was the savior as he made KCR to concede the Shipping Ministry for the DMK's demands. It was during this period that DMK is known to have gifted KCR with 2 ships and a share of business in Kandla sea port.
Later with his immense wits, KCR remained as a Cabinet Minister without portfolio and earned huge sympathy in Telangana region. This entire story dates back to 2004 and his assets and revenues have grown tremendously making himself a key personality in Kandla and Mumbai port areas.
The ongoing Telangana agitation and Chidambaram’s statement favoring Telangana is also discussed to have roots in cordial and secret relations shared by KCR and Chidambaram from 2004. Many were discussing that, Chidambaram was doing the favor to Telangana only as a return gesture to KCR for his relinquishing the shipping ministry.
