Boyapati Srinu is a master in etching massive hero characterizations. He remained successful when dealing with the stardom of elder heroes like Venkatesh, Balakrishna and to an extent with Raviteja. However, when he touched youngsters like Junior NTR in ‘Dhammu’ or Allu Arjun in ‘Sarrainodu,’ the limitations within himself have clearly exposed. While ‘Dhammu’ remained as a very weak film, ‘Sarrainodu’ is proving to be a far better attempt doing well in Box Office terms.
The care taken by Boyapati in carving Bunny’s Gana character was visible in styling, stunt composition, songs picturization and even on comic front. Apparently, audiences aren’t absorbing the reason why Gana is shown as Military dropout. Of course, a Military dropout adds strength to hero’s individuality and social responsibility in character projection. But, the same can also be possible if Gana behaves as a common man hailing from respectable family within an ethical framework.
‘We thought that few more scenes from Army or Military backdrop will be added to narration at some point of time. Except a shot in ‘MLA’ song, nowhere Bunny’s military shades got highlighted. At least in climax, we expected something like Chiranjeevi’s ‘Stalin’ to happen but not so. The strong trait of Gana should have been exploited more,’ a critic commented.
