The union government, on Thursday, 28th of January, announced the list of 20 urban areas to be developed as smart cities and they include Bhubaneswar, Pune, Jaipur, Surat, Kochi, Ahmedabad, Jabalpur, Vishakhapatnam, Sholapur, Davangere, Indoor, NDMC, Coimbathore, Kakinada, Belagavi, Udaypur, Guwahati, Chennai, Ludhiana and Bhopal.
Vishakhapatnam and Kakinada are the two cities from Andhra Pradesh which got places in the list of 20 cities announced by the government. In the future, the government plans to develop 80 more cities as smart cities. A total of 3 lakh crores will be spent by the government to develop smart cities.
VISHAKHAPATNAM: Vishakhapatnam is located on the coast of Bay of Bengal. It is the largest city both in the terms of area and population in newly formed Andhra Pradesh state. Earlier, it was expected to be the capital of AP. However, the government decided to develop Amaravati as the capital of AP. Right now, Vishakha is treated as the financial capital of AP. Vishakha is considered to be one of the beautiful cities of AP. Vishakha has good weather conditions as well with optimum temperature, gets recorded, during summer. Vishakhapatnam completely deserves to be the smart city.
KAKINADA: Kakinada is the headquarters of East Godavari district. It is the 4th most populous city of the state. Given its broad roads in an orderly arranged manner, Kakinada is considered to be the planned city. As peace always prevails in the city, Kakinada is nicknamed as 'Pensioners Paradise'. Kakinada is the best choice becoming the smart city.
