Former President Abdul Kalam No More

Former President and eminent scientist, Bharat Ratna Abdul Kalam breathed his last in Shillong on Monday evening, 27th July, 2015. He was 83. He was rushed to Bethany Hospital straightaway after he had collapsed during a public lecture at IIM, Shillong. He was declared dead by the doctors of the hospital. 

Born in Rameswaram of Tamil Nadu on 15 October 1931, Abdul Kalam became the President of India between 2002 and 2007. Kalam rendered his services in Defence Research and Development Organisation( DRD0) and Indian Space Research Organization( ISRO) over four decades. 

Abdul Kalam played crucial roles in India's Pokhran-2 nuclear tests in 1998 and development of ballistic missiles. Kalam was the recipient of Padma Bhushan (1981), Padma Vibhushan (1990) and Bharat Ratna(1997). Abdul Kalam hailed from a poor fisherman family. His career from a Paper Boy to the President of India has been a great inspiration to the entire nation. His literary work 'Wings of Fire' was also a big success. We salute to the Pride of India. The nation never forgets this impeccable and illustrious personality.
