India's top director Shankar is all set to prove his mettle as the best director of India again. Having been made as a high end sci-fi thriller, Shankar's 'Robo' collected around Rs.250 crores and occupied number one position till the movie's records were broken by Rajamouli's 'Baahubali'. 'Robo' was made with a whopping budget of Rs.150 crores then.
According to the latest update, Shankar's 'Robo 2's makers have decided to invest Rs.300 crores on the project. This project will go on sets next year. Tamil Superstar Rajinikanth will play the lead role of the film. Villain role was expected to be played by Vikram. However, the makers are keen on roping in a Bollywood hero to get the movie a wider reach. Aamir Khan has earlier turned down the offer to reprise the villain of the movie. May be the makers are on search for another hero now.
Interestingly, Rajamouli's 'Baahubali' 1 and 2 are being made with a sum of Rs.220 crores. Shankar's 'Robo 2's single version alone requires Rs.300 crores of budget. Shankar's 'Sivaji' scored Rs.100 crores nett while 'Robo' collected Rs.250 crores. 'Robo 2' is aimed at breaking the full run nett collections Rs.700 crores of Aamir Khan's 'PK'.
