Can 'Lion' Reach Break Even?

Natasimham Nandamuri Balakrishna's 'Lion' was made with a huge budget of Rs.35 crores. However, the makers have released it with a deficit of Rs.10 crores by selling it out to around Rs.25 crores. Instead of NRA basis, buyers preferred to acquire the rights of the movie on advance basis in many areas.

According to the trade reports, the movie collected a share of Rs.12.30 crores at the end of its first weekend run world wide. The movie should accumulate Rs.35+ crores to fetch profits to everyone who is associated with the movie including produces, buyers and exhibitors. If the movie collects Rs.25+ crores, the buyers can safely avoid losses with the movie.

But then, current trends indicate it's going to be a Herculean Task for 'Lion' movie to reach break even. It all depends upon the sustainability of the movie at the box office. The movie was directed by Satyadeva on SLV Cinema. Trisha and Radhika Apte have shared the screen space with Balakrishna in the movie.
