Is the Ruling TDP in AP state trying to keep Polavaram project aside by taking up Pattiseema project? According to some of the political analysts the answer is 'yes'. They have come up with following reasons to prove their argument right.
* With Polavaram project, East and West Godavari districts, Krishna and Rayalaseema districts will be benefited at the core. Especially, East and West Godavari districts will emerge as the richest states of India. Some of the politicians do not like it and reportedly felt jealousy on it.
* The estimated cost of Pattiseema project will be around Rs.1300 crores. As per analysts, the government plans to transfer Polavaram project's funds to Pattiseema project. Interestingly, only two companies( Mega and L& T) have been invited for tenders. It is also said that particular caste's politicians are supporting Pattiseema project, though all other political parties are opposing the project.
* The state government never ever tried to pressurize the center for more funds to Polavaram. Eventually, the union government has allocated just Rs.100 crores for the financial year 2015-16. In fact, there is a need of at least Rs.4000-5000 crores per every financial year for the project to be completed in four years.
* The union government has established 'Polavaram Development Authority Board' to complete the project. The state government wishes to takeover the responsibilities of project's construction from this board but the center has turned down TDP's plans by denying their proposals. Subsequently, the state government is not responding to the letters sent by the authority on various issues relating to financial matters. Perhaps, the ruling party seeks good percentages of funds by taking over the project.
