Padmasri Allu Ramalingaiah National Comedian Award was given away to popular writer and actor Tanikella Bharani on Monday, 1st October, 2012 at Priyadarshini Stadium, Public Gardens in Hyderabad. Megastar and MP Chiranjeevi was the Chief Guest of this function. Celebrities like Ram Charan, Allu Aravind, Allu Arjun, Brahmanandam etc.attended the function. Besides politicians such as Ghanta Srinivasa Rao, Vatti Vasanth Kumar, Kannababu, Koththapalli Subbarayudu and others also graced the event.
Chiranjeevi in his speech narrated an interesting incident about his marriage. After completion of the shoot of 'Manavoori Pandavulu', Chiranjeevi was travelling with Allu Ramalingaiah in a train, from Rajahmundry to Chennai. Then, Ramalingaiah offered some liquor to Chiranjeevi. However, Chiranjeevi rejected Ramalingaiah's offer, as he said he was the devotee of lord Anjaneya. Subsequently, he got good impression and which further led to his marriage with Surekha, the daughter of Allu Ramalingaiah.
