Court summons for Meera Jasmine

The Chief Judicial Magistrate Court (CJM) in Kozhikode issued summons to popular actress Meera Jasmine in a case filed by producer-director K.A. Devarajan, alleging that the actress had taken an advance of Rs. 5 lakhs from him to do the film Swapnamalika, but failed to honour her commitment.

Meera Jasmine approached the Kerala High Court, pleading that she should be granted exemption from making a personal appearance in the court on the summons issued by CJM, but the HC rejected her appeal and asked her to be present at the court on or before August 8.

Meera's argument in the case is that after signing the contract, Devarajan changed the story and started making the film with another heroine. The Malayalam actress is no longer doing films in her mother tongue and has two films to be released in Tamil: Mambattiyan and Adhinarayana.
