Prashanth Neel, Prasanth Varma should not sell scripts. Prashanth Neel and Prasanth Varma, two talented young directors scored a blockbusters to create a sensation across the country. While Prashanth Neel stunned with mass action entertainers KGF series and Salaar, Prasanth Varma captured the imagination of all with the super hero film Hanu-Man.
However when they provided stories to films like Bagheera and Devaki Nandana Vasudeva, the films bombed at the box office. A top producer, sharing his views said “They should avoid this practice,’ says a producer and explains, “If Prashanth Neel’s “Bagheera’ failed to live up to expectations, while ‘Devaki Nandana Vasudeva’ turned out to be a damp squib,” he adds.
He pointed out “If they are directing their scripts, they can score big wins, since they are good at execution too. Whereas, if they give out their scripts, they would have no control over the making, and their ideas will not get proper treatment and don't bring in desired positive results,”
Producer went on to add "Probably, they would be earning Rs 2 or 3 crore per script, but when they are making Rs 20 to 25 crore per film as directors, they can drop this idea since it could unnecessarily dent their overall ratings". He continued “Their movies have breached language and regional barriers and also have big stars to trigger hype while in the making. Prashant Neel is a brand of sorts in the Kannada industry and Prasanth Varma is hailed as a promising director in Tollywood. Sustain your ratings, rather than trading it for a quick buck,”
Currently Prashanth Neel is readying for Salaar 2 with Prabhas, while Prasanth Varma is busy with Jai Hanuman for which he roped in Rishabh Shetty.
