Filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra made a significant announcement at the IIFA 2024, revealing his upcoming project "Zero Se Restart," a prequel to the critically acclaimed "12th Fail." Set to release on December 13th, the film will feature the same cast, including Vikrant Massey, who portrayed the lead role in the original.

"12th Fail," based on Anurag Pathak's book, tells the inspiring story of Manoj Kumar Sharma, a man who overcomes poverty to achieve his dream of becoming an IPS officer. The prequel, "Zero Se Restart," will delve deeper into this journey, exploring the early struggles and unwavering determination that shaped Manoj's path to success.

While walking the IIFA red carpet with his wife, Anupama Chopra, Chopra addressed the question of whether he would submit "12th Fail" for the Oscars. He candidly revealed his focus lies on the quality of his films rather than awards. "For me, the true reward is the satisfaction of creating something great, something that truly resonates with the audience," he shared.

"12th Fail" garnered widespread praise for its portrayal of perseverance and triumph, showcasing not only Manoj Sharma's struggles but also the vital role his wife, Shraddha Joshi, played in his success. Medha Shankar played the lead female role.

Adding to the film's growing accolades, "12th Fail" has been recognized as the number one film on IMDb's Top 250 Indian Movies list, compiled from over 8.5 million votes. This list encompasses classic films across decades, genres, and regions, solidifying "12th Fail" as a cinematic masterpiece celebrated across India.
