"Pathaan 2" Confirmed: Shah Rukh Khan's Spy Saga to Continue, "King" with Suhana Khan Also in the Works

Abbas Tyrewala, the film's writer, revealed on the podcast Cyrus Says that the script for the sequel is almost ready for dialogue. Tyrewala expressed hope that he would be given the opportunity to work on the next installment.
The excitement for "Pathaan 2" has been brewing since the first film's success. Reports indicate that Shah Rukh Khan and Aditya Chopra have decided to transform "Pathaan" into a standalone franchise within the YRF Spy Universe, fueled by audience demand for more of Khan's charismatic spy character. A source close to the project noted that Khan's portrayal of Pathaan has resonated strongly with viewers, leading to anticipation for more action-packed adventures. The sequel aims to expand upon the larger conflicts within the spy universe's broader timeline.
In addition to "Pathaan 2," Tyrewala has also completed the first draft of dialogue for another upcoming project titled "King." This film will mark a special milestone, as it will be Shah Rukh Khan's first collaboration with his daughter, Suhana Khan. Directed by Sujoy Ghosh, "King" is being co-produced by Gauri Khan and Siddharth Anand. Production is scheduled to begin in Mumbai in January 2025, with filming also planned for Europe. The filmmakers are aiming for an Eid 2026 release for the film.
