Trouble brews for Maidaan makers

TS govt shocks Maidaan makers

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has ordered an investigation into the makers of the Bollywood film "Maidaan" following allegations of non-payment of royalties to the family of legendary Indian football coach, Syed Abdul Rahim. Inspired by Rahim's life and achievements, the film reportedly promised royalties to his family members in exchange for access to his personal life and sporting records.

However, after the film's theatrical release in April, the family claims they could not reach the filmmakers and have been denied the promised royalties.

Following a plea from the family, CM Reddy instructed the Hyderabad Police to investigate the matter. The film, starring Ajay Devgan as the legendary coach, had received critical acclaim but failed to perform well at the box office.

The investigation will focus on whether the "Maidaan" filmmakers fulfilled their commitment to the family of Syed Abdul Rahim, who played a pivotal role in the history of Indian football.

This development highlights the growing concern regarding ethical practices and the importance of honoring agreements in the film industry.
