Thangalaan, the highly anticipated period action-drama film, is finally set to hit theatres on August 15, 2024, as an Independence Day special release. Marking the first onscreen collaboration between Chiyaan Vikram and director Pa Ranjith, the movie has been delayed multiple times due to technical reasons. A viral social media post has revealed the intriguing plot of Thangalaan, which follows the story of Thangalaan, a farmer who lives happily with his family in Veppur village. However, their lives take a turn when the village's Zamindar conspires to take their land, and a British man named Clement arrives, seeking experienced miners. To save his family and reclaim his land, Thangalaan agrees to go with Clement, only to face starvation, deadly accidents, and rebellion.
As Thangalaan discovers his Naga heritage, he joins forces with Naga leader Aarathi, played by Malavika Mohanan, to stand up against Clement, the lead antagonist played by Daniel Caltagirone. The film features an ensemble cast, including Parvathy Thiruvothu, Pasupathy, Hari Krishnan Anbudurai, Sampath Ram, and others. GV Prakash Kumar has composed the songs and original score, with Kishor Kumar handling the cinematography and Selva RK editing.
