Kalyan Ram an IT defaulter

Nandamuri Hero an IT defaulter

Actor Nandamuri Kalyan Ram has been named in the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) report as an income tax defaulter, specifically for failing to pay interest on delayed tax returns. The report, tabled in the Telangana Assembly, highlights the actor's late filing of returns for a period between July 2017 and July 2018.

Kalyan Ram, while having paid the tax dues belatedly, failed to pay the levied interest of Rs. 11.53 lakh, which is attributed to the delayed filing. According to the CAG report, the Income Tax Department, in response to the findings, stated that the actor is currently reconciling the interest calculation and will provide relevant information.

This case is notable as it ranks among the top three irregularities concerning non-payment of interest by taxpayers, alongside Secunderabad-based Swamy Ads (Rs. 12.32 lakh) and Begumpet-based Conneqt Business Solutions (Rs. 10.11 lakh).

On the film front, Kalyan Ram's last release was "Devil," and he is currently working on his next untitled project, tentatively titled "NKR 21."

The report's findings have sparked debate and raised questions regarding the actor's financial dealings. While the Income Tax Department is investigating the matter further, this development has added another layer to the ongoing discourse on tax compliance and accountability within the film industry.
