'Kalki 2898 AD' - The biggest and costliest Indian film ever made with the biggest Pan India Star Prabhas headlining the project along with luminaries like Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan onboard. The film has been in planning pre-COVID and in the making post-COVID. Makers claim that they are attempting the Pan World Movie. Considering the research, director Nag Ashwin and team are putting up, makers indeed have taken the term 'Pan world' quite seriously. With the amount of effort, planning multiple sequels, and maintaining the plot as a super secret, everything seems going well on the making side.
But, does the film have that kind of buzz and hype, that 'The biggest and costliest film' should have? is the question. Keeping aside Tollywood are the audiences aware of what's going on with the film and keep promotional material? As far as Bollywood is concerned, Prabhas who enjoys stardom in Hindi land, and Deepika Padukone, a familiar face in Hindi films along with Amitabh Bachchan, the film didn't make any attempts to draw Hindi audiences towards film, yet. The same goes for Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam language audiences too.
The official promotional campaign of 'Kalki 2898 AD' began with introducing 'Bujji' - the specially designed dystopian robotic car. Now, it has been roaming around through other states as a part of promotion. Even, Dircetor Nag Ashwin requested Twitter (X) and Tesla CEO Elon Musk to try Bujji along with their advanced designed Cyber Truck. If Elon responds this might fetch 'Kalki 2898 AD' wide reach in the global arena but if it doesn't, it would be interesting to see what other tactics the Kalki team will try to increase anticipation among the audiences.
With only less than a month to the release, the makers of 'Kalki 2898 AD' haven't ignited any promotions that will take the film close to all sections of audiences and generate massive hype. They might be making a cinematic Marvel that Indian cinema has never witnessed, but audiences should get to know about that. They must get a feeling that something huge is brewing. This is where 'Kalki' lags. Hope, the makers understand the situation and promote the film in the right direction so that their efforts and hard work can be complemented with a gigantic success at the box office too.
