Singer Suchitra Ramadurai has stirred up a storm of controversy with shocking revelations about actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan during a recent interview. She alleged that the Tamil film industry is rife with drug abuse and claimed that Haasan had served cocaine at his parties.
Ramadurai, speaking to a Tamil weekly magazine, alleged that Haasan hosted "birthday parties" in the past where he provided cocaine to guests.
While Haasan has yet to respond to these accusations, Bharatiya Janata Party Vice President of Tamil Nadu, Narayanan Thirupathi, has demanded action against the Makkal Needhi Maiam leader. Thirupathi also stated that if Ramadurai's claims are proven false, action will be taken against her.
Adding fuel to the fire, netizens have unearthed an old photograph of Haasan posing with Jaffer Sadiq, a film producer and alleged drug kingpin. Sadiq, a former DMK functionary, was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau in March 2024 for allegedly smuggling drugs worth over Rs 2,000 crore out of the country. He is believed to be the mastermind behind an India-Australia-New Zealand drug trafficking network.
Despite the controversy, Kamal Haasan remains focused on his upcoming projects. He is currently preparing for the release of "Kalki 2898 AD," "Indian 2," and "Thug Life." His last cinematic outing was the 2022 blockbuster "Vikram," which featured Vijay Sethupathi and Fahadh Faasil.
The gravity of these allegations and the public's reaction to them will undoubtedly impact Haasan's political and professional career. The situation will likely remain a hot topic in the coming days as public and media scrutiny intensifies.
