Kriti Sanon not keen on the director chair

Kriti not to wield the megaphone

Kriti Sanon not keen on the director chair. Last month marked the completion of Kriti Sanon’s inaugural production venture, "Do Patti," co-starring Kajol, after an intensive four-month shoot. Positioned as a mystery thriller set in the picturesque hills of North India, the film also stands as the maiden production effort of accomplished writer Kanika Dhillon under her banner, Kathha Pictures. In an exclusive conversation with News18 Showsha, Kriti, the driving force behind the film under her production house Blue Butterfly Films, delves into her multifaceted involvement in various facets of the filmmaking process.

Discussing how the experience delved into the intricacies of scriptwriting, she shares, “I’ve relished every aspect of it. Sitting down with Kanika to navigate the creative nuances of the script, understanding how it evolves from a mere idea into a fully-fledged film has been immensely fulfilling.”

The National Award-winning actor further discloses her active role in shaping the musical landscape of "Do Patti." “I also contributed to the music of the film, a facet I thoroughly enjoyed. My love for music in general found expression as I engaged as a producer collaborating with music composers, deciphering what resonates best with the film. It felt like being a novice, embarking on a journey of continuous learning,” she reflects.

In July of the previous year, Kriti embarked on her journey as a film producer, a decision driven by a desire to shift gears after nine years in the industry. “I have always harbored a creative side that I wished to explore not only through acting but also in every aspect of filmmaking. I've maintained a keen interest in every department. Whatever knowledge I have gained has been on the job. I am always contemplating scenes and ways to elevate them, considering the film as a whole,” she explains.

While the versatile actor emphasizes her passion for being involved in various aspects of filmmaking, she unequivocally rules out trying her hand at directing. Elaborating on her decision, she reveals, “I have a profound love for being in front of the camera. The director's role is exceptionally challenging, requiring a prolonged commitment to a single project. I don't believe I possess the patience for that. Although Laxman (Utekar) sir used to suggest that I might direct someday, I would insist that I am content as an actor. At present, I am exploring my creative side as a producer.”
