Shah Rukh rejects Rajini Thalaivar 171. Lokesh Kanagaraj has not only made a mark in Tamil cinema but has become a prominent figure nationwide. After the success of his recent film "Leo" starring Thalapathy Vijay, he is gearing up for his next venture with none other than Rajinikanth in the lead role. Titled "Thalaivar 171," this film marks Lokesh Kanagaraj's sixth directorial project and his inaugural collaboration with the legendary Rajinikanth. Described as a standalone project, it is set apart from the Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU).
In a recent development, Lokesh has reached out to Bollywood actors for potential appearances in the film. Initial reports indicate that he was keen on having Shah Rukh Khan make a special appearance. Sources reveal, "Lokesh even had a meeting with Shah Rukh Khan, providing him with an overview of the film's concept. Although SRK admired the subject and holds immense respect for Rajinikanth, he politely declined the offer to feature in the film. Having made appearances in movies like 'Brahmastra,' 'Rocketry,' and 'Tiger 3,' SRK is now inclined towards exclusive standalone feature films."
The source further disclosed that Shah Rukh shared details about his extended role in Suhana Khan’s theatrical debut, "The King." "Lokesh understood SRK's perspective and respected his decision," the source added, mentioning that Shah Rukh Khan is open to considering a standalone solo film with Lokesh Kanagaraj. Meanwhile, Lokesh has also engaged in discussions with Ranveer Singh about a role, and the actor has expressed keen interest. Ranveer, having heard about the character, wishes to review the complete script before finalizing his involvement. Lokesh has also explored the potential for a spin-off if "Thalaivar 171" proves successful. Another meeting between Ranveer and Lokesh is scheduled for 2024.
Set to commence filming in April next year, "Thalaivar 171" aims for a 2025 release. The makers are reportedly eyeing an ensemble cast comprising up to 10 actors from various film industries. The inclusion of actors from different domains adds an extra layer of anticipation to this much-anticipated project.
