Pakistan Cricket team with its poor performance is out of the ongoing cricket world cup. In addition to this, comments made by former Pakistan all-rounder has further throw the Pakistan Cricket fraternity into more bad light. Former Pakistan cricketer Abdul Razzaq is facing severe backlash owing to his comment on the country’s poor performance in the ICC ODI World Cup that had a reference to Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

During a recent talk show, Razzaq criticised PCB’s intention in preparing for the World Cup. Explaining his remarks aimed at PCB, Razzaq took out a bizarre example, mentioning the name of Aishwarya. Speaking about the “neeyat" (intention) of the Pakistan board, Razzaq made Controversial coments.

He said, “Here, I am referring to their (PCB’s) intention. We don’t really intend to improve and enhance the players, in my opinion. That will never happen if you believe that I will marry Aishwarya (Rai) to have a good-natured and moral child. Therefore, you must first amend your intentions." 

Former players like Umar Gul and Shahid Afridi were also present at the event and after Razzak made those comments they were smiling and clapping for those remarks. This has ignited severe backlash on Razzak and other Pakistani players for bring Aishwarya Rai's name and making sly comments. 

In wake of huge disapproval of his comments even from his own teammates, Razzak issued public apology. Razzaq appeared on Samaa TV to address the situation. He stated, “Yesterday, we were talking about cricket coaching and intentions. I had a slip of tongue and mistakenly took Aishwarya Rai’s name. I apologise to her personally. I did not intend to hurt anyone’s sentiment.”
