Uorfi fakes arrest, lands in trouble

Uorfi Javed lands in trouble for faking her arrest. On Friday, the Mumbai Police took legal action against social media influencer Uorfi Javed and four others for their involvement in creating and sharing a fabricated video depicting her arrest.

The viral video portrays a group of women dressed as police officers apprehending Uorfi Javed at a cafe. When questioned about the reason for her arrest, one of the women posing as a 'cop' retorts, “Itne chote chote kapde kaun pehenke ghumta hai (who roams around wearing such a short dress)?"

Following the video's widespread circulation, Mumbai's Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Krishnakant Upadhyay clarified that no actual arrest had taken place.

Subsequently, the Oshiwara Police registered a case later in the day against Uorfi and the individuals featured in the video, citing violations of sections 171, 419, 500, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). These sections pertain to the fraudulent use of garb or tokens associated with public servants (171), personation for the purpose of cheating (419), defamation (500), and actions taken by a group of individuals with a shared intention (34).

This incident is not the first time Uorfi Javed has found herself in legal trouble. In December 2022, a complaint was filed against her at the Andheri Police Station, alleging involvement in illegal and obscene acts in public spaces. The complaint was submitted by advocate Ali Kaashif Khan Deshmukh, accusing Javed of engaging in such activities both in public places and on social media.
