Amitabh, Akshay in Khakee sequel. Rajkumar Santoshi's blockbuster cop action drama 'Khakee' is set to receive a sequel nearly two decades after its original release. Actor-filmmaker Aryeman Ramsay, son of the late producer Keshu Ramsay, who produced the original film, confirmed the exciting news in an interview.
He stated, "Yes, we are planning a sequel to Khakee, and we are actively working on the script. We aim to start filming next year, coinciding with the 20th anniversary of the original film, which still holds a special place in the hearts of fans and audiences."While Aryeman didn't reveal too much about the sequel's plot, he did mention that it will be a fresh story set in the present day and will continue the narrative from the original film.Regarding the cast, Aryeman expressed his desire to involve Amitabh Bachchan, and he's in the early stages of discussing it.
He also expressed interest in having Tusshar Kapoor reprise his character, but given the fate of certain characters in the original, he acknowledged that some actors, like Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, may not return.
Additionally, he mentioned that he hopes to have Rajkumar Santoshi direct the sequel.'Khakee,' released in January 2004, followed the gripping story of an Indian police team's mission to transfer a Pakistani spy from a secluded town in Maharashtra to a Mumbai prison. The film was a massive success, ranking as the fifth highest-grossing film of the year.Moreover, the film's popularity led to a Telugu remake titled 'Satyameva Jeyathe,' featuring Rajasekhar, Sivaji, Nitu Chandra, and Sheryl Pinto, among others.
