The Telugu Desam Party led by its president Nara Chandrabbabu Naidu on Wednesday decided to launch an agitation against the liberal liquor policy of the government on August 16.
The party decided to launch a stir from Nellore and about 10,000 women will be expected to take part in the rally which will be led by Chandrababu Naidu himself.
The TDP senior leaders who met on Wednesday morning to chalk out the party's logistics were determined to counter the Government’s liquor policy. The TDP leaders were particularly distressed by the police, the contractor's henchmen and the political parties to dissipate the anti-arrack movement in Andhra Pradesh.
The movement has targeted the nexus between the politicians, police and arrack contractors.
The TDP leaders also discussed the Babili project issue and allotment of Bayyaram mines in Khammam district to the relatives of YSRajasekhar Reddy.
The action panels deliberated on opposing the Government's move to expand liquor outlets, implementation of half-hearted welfare schemes, epidemics like swine-flu and fevers in the Agency areas and farmers' problems among other things.
Meanwhile, the TDP received a rude shock when it was learnt that a case filed by party leader Teegala Krishna Reddy and others against the Telangana lawyers were struck down by the Andhra Pradesh High Court.
