In order to secure more Central funds to benefit the Telangana people, Dr YS Rajasekhar Reddy projected a low profile for nine districts in Telangana. That is why we find nine Telangana districts as backward in the document released by the Centre, said Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal here on Tuesday.
A document released by the Centre on Monday reveals that nine districts in Telangana, three districts in Rayalaseema and one North coastal Andhra (Vizianagaram) are backward in the State.
It was YSR who made Sonia Gandhi to declare that almost all the region of Telangana is backward so that the region could get some World Bank aid and from other sources, noted Lagadapati.
''Have a glance at the districts like Khammam, Karimnagar, Warangal and Ranga Reddy. The statistics indicate that the per capita income there is on par with Andhra districts like Prakasham and Nellore. I don’t find any reason why all the nine districts are classified as backward,'' the MP from Vijayawada said.
