Leader of the Telugu Desam Party in the Lok Sabha Nama Nageshwara Rao on Wednesday apologised to Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee on behalf of his party for the outburst against the senior leader by Sivaprasad Naramalli.
The TDP MP had shouted at Mr Mukherjee when the Finance Minister had asked an agitated Mr Naramalli to take his seat during a protest on the Babli issue at the Well of the House.
The TDP and Shiv Sena MPs had raised a ruckus near the Speaker’s podium, shouting slogans and counter-slogans over the issue of illegal constructions across river Godavari by the Maharashtra government.
The din had led to senior Parliamentarians, including Mr Mukherjee, Leader of the Opposition Sushma Swaraj, Gopinath Munde appealing to the agitating Members to resume their seats as they were awaiting a statement by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal on the issue.
The agitating TDP Members had refused to comply with the requests and kept on with the slogan shouting, forcing Speaker Meira Kumar to adjourn the proceedings for the second time in the day.
