We don’t make vain promises: CM on power supply to farmers
The issue of free power supply for nine hours to farmers figured prominently during the Question Hour in the House on Thursday. The Telugu Desam Party members were aggressive in attacking the Government on free power supply to farmers. They insisted that the Governememt should specifically mention the date from when they are going to implement .
In reply, Chief Minister Dr. Y S Rajasekhara Reddy said `` we never make vain promises. I know that people will not forgive us if we don’t supply power to the farmers by Novemeber or December. It is unfortunate that we did not have good rains that compounded the problem of power generation. Added to it the VTPS also is not generating power to its capacity.’’
``However we took all the possible steps for sufficient power generation and I am sure we will tide over the situation soon, ‘’ he averred.
He further clarified that he promised to provide power supply to the farmers nine hours a day but that is not in one stretch during the day time. It will be supplied to them in two phases that is during the day time as well as in the night.
When the TDP members still insisted on the specific date, Rosaiah said `` you also have ruled the state over a few years and you know the technical problems we face so it is not possible for us to mention the exact date. This smooth reply from Rosaiah subdued the TDP members.
