TDP leaders set on bus yatra for Babli

Telugu Desam party chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu seems to be on the move for quite some time now. On Thursday, he visited Sompeta to console the families of  those killed in police firing and on Friday he left for Babli in Maharashtra en-route Basra to console the bereaved family of IIIT student Lakhsman.

The bus yatra launched by Chandrababu to Babli was to draw the attention of the nation towards the illegal constructions of  Maharashtra Government across the river Godavari.  Led  by the TDP chief, the TDP MLAs, MPs and Lok Satta activists left in  four buses to Maharashtra at 6 a.m. from the Assembly premises  here.

The TDP chief ignored Chief Minister K.Rosaiah's appeal to drop the yatra plan. Rosaiah advised Naidu that such step will only aggravate the strained relations between the two states.  However, Chandrababu did not pay heed to the advice of the septuagenarian Chief Minister and went ahead with the tour.

Addressing the  media before boarding the bus, Naidu said it was on a fact-finding mission that he has embarked on this time. The former chief minister alleged that Maharashtra was going ahead with the works on Babli in contravention of the Supreme Court orders.

He lashed out at the state Government saying that the Andhra Pradesh leadership was doing precious little to stop the project, which would prove disastrous for the state and turn Telangana into a desert.

Meanwhile,  it was learnt that the Maharashtra Government stepped up its security along the border to prevent the bus yatra of  TDP from proceeding. Police have erected barricades and formed check posts to detain vehicles entering the state.
