The Election Commission has served another notice to Congress president D. Srinivas on Wednesday for violating the model code of conduct for the July 27 by-election in Telangana region. Srinivas is the Congress candidate from the Nizamabad Urban assembly constituency.
According to the Election Commission, Srinivas violated the provisions of model code of conduct by giving an assurance to the voters that Sonia Gandhi and the Srikrishna Panel are in favour of a separate Telangana.
The Commission asked DS to give an explanation on the statement he made about Telangana. The Commission acted on the complaint lodged by K.Kavita, daughter of Telangana Rashtra Samiti chief K. Chandrasekhara Rao and president of Telangana Jagruti Samiti.
Earlier, the Election Commission has warned D.Srinivas to be more cautious and not violate the model code of conduct in letter and spirit.
