Sangareddy MLA T Jayaprakash Reddy, who was arrested here on charges of violating election code violation at Siddipet, met Chief Electoral Officer I V Subba Rao at the Secretariat on Monday.
The Congress MLA told the Electoral officer that he made some remarks to gain the confidence of his voters and boost the morale of party workers in his constituency.
Reddy said he did not make any inflammatory speech ‘intentionally’ during the campaign in violation of the model code of conduct.
He asked the voters to cast their vote freely without fear or favour. He alleged the Telangana Rashtra Samiti has created a law and order problem in Siddipet and voters are scared to cast their vote freely.
After hearing the MLA, the Electoral officer faxed the explanation to Chief Election Commission, New Delhi.
The MLA reportedly told the cadre that he would retaliate in case any Congress worker was attacked by TRS people during the campaign.
A TRS worker filed a complaint against Reddy in Siddipet One Town police station stating that JP Reeddy provoked the people and violated the election code.
