Telugu Desam Party chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu and Communist Party of India state secretary Narayana were arrested on Monday from different areas in Hyderabad for staging protests against the rise in prices of petroleum products.
Chandrababu along with TDP activists staged a sit-in at Ameerpet Junction and blocked the regular traffic. The TDP activists deflated the tyres of a few vehicles, which were parked on the roadside.
The police swooped on the TDP activists and arrested them along with Chandrababu Naidu. The police shifted Chandrababu Naidu to Banjara Hills Police Station.
On hearing the news that Chandrababu was shifted to Banjara Hills police station, the TDP activists staged a dharna in front of the Police Station. Later, the TDP chief was released on a personal undertaking.
Meanwhile, at the RTC Cross Roads, CPI supporters led by their state secretary Narayana blocked the vehicular traffic. Protesting against the rise in prices of petro product s they brought the traffic to a halt at the busy RTC Crossroads by lying across the road.
The police forces descended on the spot and arrested Narayana along with CPI supporters.
