Telugu Desam supremo N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday criticized the state government for not supplying qualitative seeds to farmers.
Addressing the farmers of Guntur, Anantapur, Medak and Nalgonda at NTR Trust Bhavan here during an Istagoshti interaction programme, the TDP leader stated that the government failed to release 50 percent of seeds by May 15 despite promise.
“This reflects that the government was not committed to the farmers’ problems,” he said and added, the government, on the other hand, was indulging in auctioning of liquor licences.
He criticized the government for not giving seeds subsidy to farmers and for supplying inferior quality seeds.
The Srikakulam district needed 46,650 quintal seeds. But the government released only 22,000 quintal. This indicated the government’s commitment on farmers’ issues, he lashed out.
