Secunderabad MLA and actor Jayasudha on Thursday issued a veiled threat to resign from her MLA seat unless external forces refrained from interfering in the election process for the ward committee members of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation.
The MLA has sought action against the interference of Mayor Karthik Reddy’s husband Chandra Reddy in the ward committee affairs of the GHMC. She said several irregularities in GHMC administration had come to her notice with the involvement of the Mayor’s husband. If her charges were proved otherwise, she was even ready to resign from her Assembly seat, the MLA said and threatened to take the whole GHMC elections issue to the Chief Minister.
The civic body was electing party committee members and it was none of the Mayor’s husband’s business, Jayasudha fumed. There were several names in the party committee who were not Congress members, she added.
However, reacting to Jayasudha’s charge, Mayor Karthik Reddy said she would go the party High Command if Jaya takes the issue to the state party leadership. Reddy clarified that her husband Chandra Reddy was not at all involved in the ward committee affairs as Jayasudha anticipated.
