Tainted former Satyam Computers chief Ramalinga Raju who has been evading the court since September 2009 will be examined through video conferencing.
According to the VV Lakshminaryana, DIG Criminal Bureau of Investigation, the CBI is planning to question ex-Satyam chairman B Ramalinga Raju via video conferencing as he continues to dodge the special CBI court’s summons in connection with the multi-crore fraud in the IT firm he founded.
To this effect the CBI filed a petition requesting the court to examine Raju through video conferencing. The case came up for hearing today but as the judge was on leave the case has been postponed for hearing to June 1.
As Raju is refraining from court proceedings since last September citing health reasons, initially for heart ailment and later for Hepatitis-C. He is undergoing treatment at the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS).
The irony is that the former Satyam chief is unwell to meet CBI or to be produced before the court for interrogation but is well to meet his relatives and friends in the hospital. It is established that he spends not less than eight to 10 hours a day meeting his friend and relatives.
The Special Court Judge had expressed his dissatisfaction over Ramalinga Raju abstaining from court proceedings. Though the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate and Special CBI Judge BVLN Chakravarti on April 12 had asked the NIMS to provide details of Raju’s health condition on a daily basis with copies of daily case sheets and medical tests conducted on him since March 31 for verification by the court.
