Voicing concern over incidents of women harassment and child abuse, Chief Minister K Rosaiah said on Wednesday, the state is spending huge funds on women and children to ensure good returns over several generations.
``Women contribute significantly to poverty eradication, economic development and reconstruction of strife-torn families. Spending on women results not only in their individual well-being, but also in that of their families and communities, ‘’ observed Rosaiah while launching the AP State Society for Protection and Empowerment of Women and Children and Integrated Child Protection scheme.
The Centre and the State governments had taken effective steps for the empowerment of women and protection of the children, he explained.
Criticizing the gender discrimination in a family the CM urged the parents to treat both the male and female child on level terms without showing any discrimination.
Trafficking human being is one of the worst sorts of trades the CM noted. The government will come out heavily on those groups which indulge in trafficking, the CM added.
