CM inaugurates Textile Park

The setting up of a ‘textile and apparel’ Park under the Scheme for Integrated Textile Parks would go a long way in consolidating Andhra Pradeh’s position as a leading industrial States in the country.

Brandix India Apparel City (BIAC), which is located in the Andhra Pradesh Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) here was inaugurated by Chief Minister Konijeti Rosaiah here on Monday.

Spread over 1000-acre land, it is equipped with the latest  machinery giving the park an edge over other textile parks in the country. It is fully serviced and environmentally compliant manufacturing park.

The park is in the initial stages which has provided 5,075 jobs to the rural people, most of whom are girls, and when the Park is fully operational, it is expected to provide 60,000 jobs.

Gracing the occasion were Union Minister of State for Textiles, Panabaka Lakshmi and Minister of State for HRD, D Purandeswari. Mines & Geology, Handlooms & Textile, Spinning Mills Minister B. Srinivas Reddy, Minister for Major Industries K. Lakshmi Narayana and Tribal Welfare & Remote and Interior Areas Development MInister  P. Balaraju were present.

 Panabaaka Lakshmi during her presidential address complimented the Andhra Pradesh Government and Brandix for establishing the Park. Of the 40 textile parks taken up by the Ministry of Textiles in the country, Brandix project is the largest,” she added.

BIAC takes its name after Brandix Lanka (www.brandix.com), the Sri Lankan apparel conglomerate that conceptualized the Park.
