Chief Minister K Rosaiah on Saturday announced that the Centre would set up an Indian Institute of Science and Technology (IIST) in Anantapur district.
Rosaiah told reporters that the State Government has received an intimation from Union Minister for Human Resources Development Kapil Sibal in this connection.The Centre has sought 1,000 acres of land to establish the IIST in Anantapur.
With the establishment of the Central institute, he hoped the backward Rayalaseema region would get a boost in science research and development activities.
