The much- awaited Cabinet expansion contemplated by K.Rosaiah is likely to take place on April 12, according to Congress circles here on Monday.
Chief Minister Rosaiah is scheduled to leave for Delhi on April 8 to attend the Chief Ministers' conference being convened by Prime Minister Dr. Mamohan Singh. The conference is being held in view of the rising prices of essential commodities.
During his stay in Delhi, Rosaiah will also meet Congress President Sonia Gandhi, regarding the Cabinet reshuffle that was postponed due to the turmoil that erupted in the Old City of Hyderabad. The Chief Minister is expected to drop six ministers and induct 12 new ones, reportedly after giving considerable weightage to the caste composition.
If approved by the party president, the reshuffle is most likely to be implemented on April 12.
It was already reported that the Y.S Jagan camp approached the CM and urged him to allot the Home portfolio to Y S Vijayalakhsmi, the widow of late Dr Y S Rajasekhar Reddy.
According to party sources, senior Congress members JC Diwakar Reddy, DL Ravindra Reddy, K Jana Reddy, Uttam Kumar Reddy, P Shanker Rao and B Saraiah (Telangana) have chances of getting berths in the Rosaiah Cabinet.
