Daggubati joined YSRCP ahead of general elections and contested from Paruchuru assembly constituency. However, he was defeated by sitting TDP MLA Yeluri Sambasiva Rao.
Now that, Daggubati seems to be having no bright future in YSRCP, he has decided to join BJP. His wife Purandeswari is one of the big leaders of BJP in AP. Also, Daggubati wishes good political career to his son Hithesh Chenchuram. As such, Hithesh will also be joining BJP. YSRCP leaders, however, feel no big damage to happen to the party with the defection of Daggubati Venkateswara Rao to the BJP.
