Assembly Speaker N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Saturday adjourned the House twice after the Opposition members insisted on debate on allegations of irregularities in Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) through adjournment motion.
When the House met for the day, Telugu Desam leader N Chandrababu Naidu brought to the notice of the members press reports about irregularities in the APPSC and sought to know the action the government was initiating against the PSC chairman.
The Speaker disallowed the motion stating the issue could be discussed in the House under different rules.
However, Naidu urged the Government to take media reports seriously. “Don't take the media reports lightly. We have secured more information under the Right to Information Act to prove the misdeeds of the State Public Service Commission members," he said.
Replying to the debate, Chief Minister K Rosaiah said the government would not take media reports lightly. But the government could not act on the basis of media reports alone against the Commission members or the Chairman, he pointed out.
He asked the Opposition leader to come up with substantial evidence to prove the allegations against the Commission members and Chairman.
Irked by the comments of the Chief Minister, the TDP members rushed into the well and stalled the proceedings.
As Speaker’s repeated pleas went unheeded, he adjourned the House for 10 minutes and then for another 15 minutes.
