Assembly Speaker Kiran Kumar Reddy on Tuesday adjourned the House for more than 15 minutes as the Opposition parties stalled the proceedings demanding discussion on growing power crisis in the state.
When the House met for the day, the Opposition—Telugu Desam, Praja Rajyam, Bharatiya Janata Party and Left parties—introduced adjournment motions on unscheduled power cuts and erratic power supply in the state and urged Speaker to give permission for discussing the issue.
However, Speaker disallowed the adjournment motion citing time constraints. Protesting against the Speaker’s decision, the Opposition parties staged a protest and insisted for discussion on power cuts.
As frequent appeals of Speaker failed to yield any result, Kiran Kumar Reddy adjourned the House for 15 minutes.
