Governor moots All-India Judicial Service

Governor E S L Narasimhan on Saturday stressed the need for establishing All India Judicial Service for recruitment of higher judiciary in transparent manner.

Addressing a conference on `Judiciary and eGovernance’ in a programme, he said the formation of an All India Judicial Service has been a long-pending demand and the selection process would be on an all-India basis akin to the civil services recruitment.

The youth can be provided better opportunities by filling vacancies in judiciary, he stated.

Stating that the judiciary was playing a key role in ensuring human rights to everyone, irrespective of all barriers, he asked the judicial officers and advocates to make efforts for speedy disposal of cases.

He stressed the modernisation of judiciary in the form of computerisation and involvement of the benches and the Bar in speedy disposal of backlog cases.
