Reversing its known stand to boycott the Srikrishna panel, the Telangana Rashtra Samiti has decided to cooperate with the panel. Telangana Joint Action Committee convenor Kodandaram would draft the TRS’ opinion on the Telangana issue by March 15 and will submit the same to the Srikrishna Committee.
On the pretext of Holi, TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao, who called on Governor ESL Narasimhan on Monday, held discussions with him on the panel. Later, KCR held an hour-long deliberation with his party colleagues and finally decided to cooperate with the panel.
According to TRS sources, KCR would also attend the dinner to be hosted by Governor Narasimhan on Thursday. The other invitees to the dinner include Chief Minister K.Rosaiah, Telugu Desam chief N.Chandrababu Naidu, Praja Rajyam president Chiranjeevi besides the five members of the Srikrishna panel.
The panel would get into its task on March 5 and by the end of the month, will acquire information from social groups like caste and religious organizations. Though the visit is seen as a purely introductory one, the Committee members would take the trip to discuss with Government officials, their needs in infrastructure and secretarial staff like interpreters, stenographers etc.
Now, it remains to be seen how the people of Telangana will take the revised stand of TRS on cooperating with the Srikrishna panel. Already, the JAC of Osmania University students has announced its decision to boycott the Srikrishna panel.
