Pradesh Congress Committee chief D Srinivas’ sensational statement on Friday that the Congress will field candidate for the ensuing bi-elections in Telangnana region has thrown the Telangana Rashtra Samiti leaders into a tizzy.
The TRS leaders huddled themselves into groups to hold discussions with Congress leaders requesting them not to field candidates for the forthcoming by-elections. The TRS leaders approached Congress MLA Shankar Rao, who in turn, appealed to the PCC chief not to field any Congress nominee for the bi-elections.
As things stand, it is the Congress which seems to be in an advantageous position having the TRS leaders at their mercy. The Congress bid to field nominees in Telanagana region has also put the Telugu Desam leaders in a dilemma whether to field its candidates or not.
Now it is the headache of the Joint Action Committee and its convener Prof Kodanda Ram to ensure that the TRS wins the seats vacated by it, which at this juncture, looks an uphill task. Some of the JAC members are demanding that a few seats may be allotted to the relatives of the persons, who died or committed suicide for the cause of Telangana.
