AP contract labourers in dire straits: CPM

 The Communist Party (Marx) on Wednesday expressed concern over the poor working conditions of contract labourers in the state. 

Participating in the question hour, CPM member Julakanti Ranga Reddy said the outsourcing and contract labour system had shattered the job security of the employees. There is a need to improve the condions of the contract workers in Government jobs. 

He said there are 5 lakh employees working under contract system. The contract labourers have not received their salaries for several months, he pointed out.

Intervening during the discussion, Sailajanath (Cong) said the officials have thrown the reservation rules into the winds during the recruitment of contract employees. 

Rural Development Minister Vatti Vasanth Kumar said about one lakh contract workers are employed in various government departments. The Government would ensure that the reservation rules are implemented during the recruitments.
