No power crunch in summer: Ponnala

Hyderabad, Feb 8: The state government has chalked out measures to tide over the power shortage in the summer months, said Major Irrigation Minister Ponnala Laxmaiah.Talking to reporters, he said the government has taken steps to augment power supply in the state by constructing lift irrigation projects on various rivers.He said the government will construct a lift irrigation project on the river Godavari with Rs 86 crore and supply water to Kothagudem Thermal Power station to augment power generation in the project.

As the water level in the Kinnerasani Project touched rock bottom, he said the government has taken a decision to construct a lift irrigation project on Burgumpudi to supply water to Kinnerasani project to increase power generation.The department will complete the projects on a iority basis to meet power crisis in the state in summer, he added.
