Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao laid the foundation stone for construction of Raja Bahadur Venkat Ram Reddy Hostel at Budvel in Rajendra Nagar mandal on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister recalled the services of Raja Bahadur Venkat Ram Reddy for the poor of Telangana. He said Raja Bahadur Venkat Ram Reddy had served as 'Kotwal' of erstwhile Hyderabad State, which was equivalent to present day DGP, for 14 years.
After the formation of Telangana, KCR said that the State Government has renamed the Andhra Pradesh Police Academy after Raja Bahadur Venkat Ram Reddy. He said previous regimes of united Andhra Pradesh have ignored several personalities like Raja Bahadur Venkat Ram Reddy. However, he said his government has been taking measures to educate the young generation about their services to the society.
The Chief Minister also announced that the State Government has sanctioned Rs.10 crore to RBVRR Educational Society for construction of educational building complex at Budvel under the “Special Development Fund for Welfare and Development Activities” scheme. He also announced that the girls hostel at Narayanguda would be given expansion by allocating vacant land of Institute of Preventive Medicine (IPM) to the Society. He advised the management to introduce new courses in the Reddy institutions.
Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy, Transport Minister Mahender Reddy, MPs Jithender Reddy, Malla Reddy and Konda Visveshwar Reddy and other leaders and senior officials were also present.
