Hyderabad, Feb 3: The state government will launch a series of welfare programmes for the development of tribals, stated Tribal Welfare Minister P Balaraju.The state government has decided to implement Rs 1,093 crore plan for the development of tribal areas, the Minister told reporters after attending a review meeting on the development of tribal areas convened under the chairmanship of Chief Minister K Rosaiah on Wednesday at the Secretariat.
He said the government,in principle, agreed to appoint five IAS officers for Integrated Tribal Development Agency as Probationary Officers to review the development programmes implemented for the upliftment of tribals.The Chief Minister also agreed to open 126 additional post-matric hostels for students in agency areas in the ensuing academic year, he said. Among 126 hostels, 64 hostels would be opened for girls and 62 for boys, he added.
