KCR promises to turn RTC into profitable institution

Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao has promised to take steps to turn Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) into a profitable institution.

Speaking after inducting new fleet in RTC fleet at Pragathi Bhavan on Thursday, the Chief Minister said that the GHMC was roped in minimise the losses caused to RTC due to its operations in Greater Hyderabad. He said that the GHMC would start releasing payments on monthly basis to help RTC recover its losses. He said other steps were also being taken to reduce RTC's losses and make it profitable.

KCR said RTC buses were still the favourite mode of public transportation. He claimed that RTC was a profitable body when he was the Transport Minister in the ertswhile united Andhra Pradesh. However, due to the continuous negligence of successive government, RTC's losses mopped up to the point of no return. He assured that the government would allocate Rs. 1,000 crore to RTC in the next budget and would also provide loans as and when needed.

The Chief Minister said the services of nearly 4,000 RTC workers were regularised so far. Further, the TRS employees were given 44% fitment.

KCR today launched 303 new buses which include 60 AC and 50 non-AC mini buses, 40 Rajadhani, 150 Super Luxury, two express and a Garuda Plus. The Chief Minister said that 30 new Vajra buses would be run between Hyderabad-Nizamabad and Hyderabad-Warangal routes. He said new buses would also be introduced on other routes like Karimnagar, Mancherial and Ramagundem.
